Le Pen's Far-Right Party Wins First Round

National Rally leads the polls in the first round of the French parliamentary elections, setting the stage for a potentially significant shift in the country's political landscape.

According to preliminary results released by the French Interior Ministry, the National Rally (RN) led by Marine Le Pen has secured the most votes with 27.6% of the total, followed by President Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance Ensemble! with 24.7%. The third-placed La France Insoumise party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon has received 22.0% of votes.

If these results hold in the second round on June 19th, it would mark a significant gain for the far-right RN, which has been capitalizing on voter dissatisfaction with the establishment. The party has campaigned on a platform of anti-immigration, Euroscepticism, and protectionism.

The outcome of the election will have far-reaching implications for France's political future and its role in the European Union. A strong showing by the RN could further polarize French society and put Macron's reform agenda at risk.
