ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves will play two preseason games in Abu Dhabi on October 6th and 8th. The NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2023 will be the first NBA games played in the Middle East since 2019. The Timberwolves opened their preseason with a 114-102 win over the Maccabi Ra'anana of the Israeli Basketball Super League on Monday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way for the Timberwolves with 20 points in 17 minutes of play. Anthony Edwards rested an injured left ankle. Jaden McDaniels added 15 points for the Timberwolves, while D'Angelo Russell had 13 points and 6 assists. The Mavericks are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished 33-49 and missed the playoffs. However, they have high hopes for this season with the addition of Kyrie Irving. Irving is a seven-time All-Star and one of the best point guards in the NBA.
